I read this on Pastor Steven Furtick’s blog

To all of us who serve in ministry: we have a tough gig, no doubt.  But let’s not forget that it’s also a high, high, privilege.  There are volunteers in our churches who give their days off to do as a hobby what we’re blessed to make a living to do.

And let’s embrace the intensity of our calling and work wholeheartedly.
After all, changing the world is hard work.

Good Stuff.  Although I don’t like his use of the word hobby, it’s a powerful point.  We serve along side people who are helping us, and doing what we do, but they are doing it for free.  We get paid, granted it’s not big bucks, but nevertheless.

At our church, we work to duplicate ourselves.  We try to instill the same passion and drive for changed lives in our volunteers that we have.  The idea of this (partly) is so that we don’t have to work ALL THE TIME.  I can do more in less time if there are 2 of me, or 3 of me.

Not sure where I was going with this, but it just got me thinking…
