Give. Rejoice. Remember

Give generously, for your gifts will return to you later…  It is a wonderful thing to be alive!  If a person lives to be very old, let him rejoice in every day of life, but let him also remember that eternity is far longer and that everything down here is futile in comparison. Eccl. 11: 1, 7-8 TLB

This was my verse of the day on my little desk calendar yesterday and I haven’t turned the page yet.  I love it.  The TLB-The Living Bible is a paraphrase.  This verse in other translations says something like “send your grain across the sea, and in time, the profits will flow back to you”.  That’s not nearly as applicable or understandable to me as the TLB’s way of putting it.  It says the same thing, just in a different way.

  • Give generously-it will return to you later.
  • It’s wonderful to be alive! rejoice in every day…
  • But, remember that eternity is far longer and everything is futile in comparison.

Chew on that for a while, it’ll change your perspective.
